Greetings from Satusisko Ahonen, the owner of Guesthouse Haltinmaa

Greetings from Guesthouse Haltinmaa and thank you for your interest in our family-owned business!

If you haven’t yet visited us we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you on your next trip to Kilpisjärvi. If you already have made our acquaintance, we wish you welcome back to Haltinmaa.

When looking for accommodations in Kilpisjärvi you may wish to learn about our business practices and our values. Thank you for taking a few moments of your time to read on.

The cornerstones of our business

We founded Guesthouse Haltinmaa in 2004 together with my spouse Bosse Eliasson and since the start our business is a privately owned family enterprise. Our family is strongly present and engaged in the daily operations.

Our founding principle is to offer quality accommodations at reasonable prices for domestic and international travelers all year round.

Our accommodations consist of 12 wood built semi-detached cottages and 4 hostel rooms which are located in a separate cottage building. Additionally we provide a caravan area with 14 pitches for travelers with camping cars. Detailed information of our accommodations can be found in these pages under Accommodations in Guesthouse Haltinmaa.

In order to maintain a reasonable pricing level we feature accommodations at a basic price for the self-catering guest. Supplementary optional services such as breakfast, rental bed & bath linen and departure day cleaning can be purchased if desired.

We take pride in featuring restaurant services with a good price-quality ratio. Restaurant Lapintyttö at Guesthouse Haltinmaa is particularly well-known for generous and affordable buffet meals, appreciated by locals and visitors alike.

It takes a village to build a business

The village is our home and the village residents are our friends. We are permanent residents here in Kilpisjärvi and the well-being of our home village is of vital importance in our everyday life and in our business operations.

We hire locals and buy locally produced goods and services whenever possible. We strive to lengthen the visitors´stay in the village by cooperating with other local accommodations and guided activity providers. We promote Kilpisjärvi as a year-round travel destination. We support other tourism actors by introducing their services in social media and customer service.

Respect for nature and appreciation for culture

The nature of Arctic Lapland and the cross-border culture of our region are an essential part of our daily lives.

We strive to protect our nature. The outdoor etiquette and litter-free hiking are our guidelines which we also urge our guests to observe. We appreciate and treasure our rich culture and like to share information of the region’s cultural history and events to our guests in social media and in customer service.

Steps towards a more sustainable future

We make an effort to harness sustainable solutions in the upcoming building and improvement projects in order to protect the environment.

We are committed to the measures our home municipality Enontekiö is taking towards sustainable travel and a carbon neutral municipality.

I wish you warmly welcome to the village of Kilpisjärvi and Guesthouse Haltinmaa!

I hope you feel at home during your visit at our guesthouse and I hope that you, too, will leave a piece of your heart behind in Kilpisjärvi and travel here over and over again.

With best regards,

Satusisko Ahonen, your hostess and owner of Guesthouse Haltinmaa
